The vert bordure represents Southern Luzon State University and the greenery that surrounds Lucena City and Quezon Province. The crosses argent represents the years spent in Maryhill College; whereas the palms represent the years in Manuel S. Enverga University. The argent field represents the dominance of light over darkness, as narrated by St. John in the prologue to his Gospel. The six-pointed brown star signifies the Armiger’s devotion to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. The chevron sable represents the Armiger’s matrilineal surname, Montenegro, which means “Black Mountain”. The book with the words “Non Recedet Memoria” (Sirach 39:13) stands for the Armiger’s principle that the memories of history should never be forgotten. Finally, the motto “Sub Tuum Praesidium” calls God’s protection through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
