The symbolism is generally as previously recorded for the arms previously assumed on November 9, 2023. The three fleurs de lis have been replaced by a seven pointed star, also referring to the Armiger’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The design of the ship has been simplified as well.

Description and symbolism:

The griffin is a combination of an eagle and a winged lion, symbols of St. John and St. Mark; as such, it is canting to the Armiger’s first and second given names. Bearing a mirror, a symbol of clarity, or kalinawan, it is further canting to the Armiger’s family name.

The three fleurs de lis represent the Blessed Virgin Mary as a sign of the Armiger’s devotion.

In the base, the fire-like division between the blue and white refers to the Armiger’s place of residence, Tuguegarao, one of the hottest locations in the country, and holding the national high temperature record of 42 degrees Celsius. The green mounds represent the lush forests of the Cagayan Valley, the farmers’ fields and mountains surrounding the city. The waves recall the Cagayan River, dividing the eastern and western parts of the valley.

The boat is a common reference to St. Peter as a fisherman, Prince of the Apostles and the titular patron saint of the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao and the Archdiocese of Davao.
