Mariel Legria Sumallo

Mariel Legria Sumallo is from Can-avid, Eastern Samar. He is a Catholic missionary priest of the Society of African Missions currently working in Tanzania. Fr. Sumallo completed a Bachelor of Secondary Education, with major in Social Science, Philosophy and Theology, and a Master in Pastoral Ministry. His family comes from an historic family of merchants trading goods from island-to-island via sail boat.

Description and symbolism:

The dominant colors of the shield are yellow, which symbolizes for the Armiger wisdom and faithfulness, and black for prudence and loyalty.

The crowned griffin represents the Armiger’s calling to be guardian and custodian of the family legacy and ancestry.

The three white crosses symbolize the three Christian virtues to which the Armiger is rooted: Faith, Hope, Charity.

Blazon: Shield: Sable, a crowned griffin Or beaked and armed Gules, between three crosses pattée Argent.
