Description and symbolism:

Purple is associated with royalty and for the high office but liturgically used to represent penance and preparation, and alludes to the Armiger’s public service. The acacia tree represents the birthplace and residence of the armiger in Cebu City. The two helmets between the tree symbolize balance, and alludes to St. Rognvald of Norway, who is commonly depicted wearing a helmet, and after whom the Armiger is named.

The blue fleurs de lys refers to devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The red rose alludes to St. Josemaria Escriva, the patron saint of the armiger, who once found comfort and faith in the flower. The gold orb is a symbol commonly associated with the Santo Niño, patron of Cebu, while the crossed palm branches refer to the secondary patron saint of Cebu, San Pedro Calungsod. The red field recalls the color of the vestment of the Santo Niño, and further reflects the martyrdom of San Pedro Calungsod.

In the crest, the lion represents the Archdiocese of Cebu, the home diocese of the armiger. The cross signifies his duties as a church servant, while the scale of justice symbolizes his occupation as a public servant.

The motto alluding to the aspirations of the Armiger as a public and church servant.
