Description and symbolism:
The central band alludes to the Armiger’s given name “Jay-Ar”, which is a combination of his mother’s name Jean and his father’s name Armando. It recalls a knight’s waistband which, together with the shield shape overall, suggests a life of guardianship – reflecting the meaning of both parent’s names, respectively “God is gracious” and “armed man”.
On the black central shield is a Tau cross, surrounded by a cloud-like white wavy border. These symbols reflect the Armiger’s past membership in the Order of Friars Minor Conventual, which nurtured his spiritual and fraternal life. The cross as located in the central shield atop the band symbolizes the strength drawn from God through the sacrifice on the Cross, and the light of the Cross in the midst of the dark.
The two upper fleur de lis allude to Saint Anthony of Padua, the patron of the Armiger’s parish in Gubat, and Saint Dominic Savio, the Armiger’s patron, while the winged fleur de lis, recalls Our Lady of the Angels, another patron of the Armiger.
The motto is taken from Genesis 3:24.
