Description and symbolism:
The eight pointed star is a symbol often associated with the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The brown background echoes the brown habit of the Carmelite Order, which is closely associated with this title. The number eight itself can signify regeneration, new beginnings, and salvation.
The palm leaf is a traditional symbol of victory, triumph, peace, and eternal life. In Christian iconography, it often represents the saints who have triumphed over sin and death and are now enjoying eternal life with God, acknowledging their spiritual victory and their role as intercessors in the faith. In the background, red is often associated with courage, sacrifice, the passion of Christ and the blood of the martyrs.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus is a profound symbol of Christ’s love for humanity, depicting His heart as aflame with love, crowned with thorns, and bearing a cross. At the center of the arms, it represents the centrality of Jesus’ love and sacrifice in the Armiger’s faith. The blue background signifies not only the purity and heavenly nature of Christ’s love but also highlights the close connection between Jesus and His mother, Mary. It acknowledges Mary’s role in the divine plan of salvation and her perpetual intercession for believers.
The motto is an expression of complete confidence in Jesus’ divine love and mercy. To the Armiger, it is a daily reminder to place his life in His hands, to rely on His guidance and strength, and to seek refuge in His loving Heart, especially in times of difficulty and uncertainty.
