
Shirley M. Monreal is a teacher by profession and lives in San Pedro City, Laguna. She is a daughter of Antonio Monreal and Adaina Mendoza. A graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English, she teaches but also engages in other interests such as digital and traditional art, along with expositional and creative writing. She loves the traditional liturgies and devotions, not to mention the orthodox teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and actively campaigns for the restoration of the sense of the sacred. Her other advocacies include educational reform and mental health.
Description and symbolism:
The blue symbolizes bliss or peace to the Armiger, while the black represents constancy. The chevron is canting to the family name Monreal, Catalan for “royal mountain”; the white color refers to faith.
The fleur de lis recalls the Blessed Virgin and the Trinity; it is surrounded by a crown of thorns, which taken together reflects suffering all for God. The ibis alludes to perseverance and patience.
The motto is taken from Romans 5:3.
